31% increace in gas within last week of July
UK gas costs that take a toll on peoples homes and businesses similar continue to rise to record highs.
The most recent Office for National Stats report on economic activity & social change implies the seven-day rolling average gas price increased by 31% in the week to 31st July.
The national statistics agency notes this increase brought the gas costs to its highest level since 16th March.
The analysis implies the average price of gas hit 9.8p per kilowatt hour, the sixth largest increase this year.
High increases in gas prices have been recorded in previous months, with the most notable soar happening in the week ending 6th March 2022 (66%).
Previously today, Ofgem disclosed the energy price cap will be scrutinised every 3 months, instead of six months which was the practice until now.
