Daily Energy Market Report Friday 21st Dec 18. The UK gas price lifted on Thursday, driven by a short system and unplanned outages with gains on the prompt filtering into the near curve.
It was announced that Kollsnes and two other fields were impacted on Thursday with Kollsnes taking 27mcm out of the grid.
Norwegian flows into the UK dropped, the biggest driver behind the short system and this lifted the curve.
The outages at the two fields were to be resolved by Friday morning but Kollsnes expected to last 3 – 4days.
The UK demand is forecast at 269mcm for today, 2mcm below seasonal norm with the system 15mcm long.
The UK system has been helped as industry ramps down for the weekend and holiday period and warmer weather, expected to sit 4°C above seasonal norm.
Brent Crude prices have continued to shed value, falling to $53.83 this morning.
Brent prices helped to without further gains across the curve on Thursday, as the bearish fundamentals on weakening demand and rising production drive prices.
