A cash prize of €100,000 (£88,592) is being offered to a sustainable start-up with the most innovative idea for energy storage.
Projects of interest include energy storage for application in transportation, grid, distributed and mobile storage, energy efficiency and emissions reductions.
The winner will also receive a place on one of InnoEnergy’s business creation programmes which uses a hands-on approach to support early stage start-ups and help get their products ready for commercialisation or provide support to grow their businesses.
A total of 15 start-ups will receive a tailored package of support, training and services.
The funding will support its work with the European Battery Alliance, which seeks to create a competitive and sustainable battery manufacturing value chain in Europe and help develop a market that could be worth €250 billion (£221bn) a year by 2025.
Bo Normark, InnoEnergy’s thematic leader for energy storage said: “Europe needs innovative electric storage solutions to support the decarbonisation of transport and heat through electrification. It is our mission to find businesses with unique and innovative concepts, products and solutions that have the potential to be part of the sustainable battery cell manufacturing value chain.”
The competition is open until 30th October 2018.
