Schools in Berkshire are being encouraged to get children excited about the importance of energy efficiency for a chance to win a £500 science grant.
Love Energy Savings has launched its first ever Energy Efficiency Competition in a bid to promote the value of green energy among youngsters.
The contest is open to Year Seven and Eight pupils from Wokingham, Bracknell and Reading, Berkshire and beyond, who will need to work together to develop an energy efficiency method which could be used at home or in class.
Pupils will need to demonstrate their innovative idea on a poster no bigger than A3 along with a 250-word explainer.
The top 10 schools will also win a free energy report from Love Energy Solutions.
As well as the £500 science grant, each member of the winning team will be given a £50 Amazon voucher.
Teams must consist of no more than four pupils but schools can enter as many times as they wish.
Importantly, the entry must be fun, clear and easy to read.
One entrant from each school will be selected for the final round which will be shown on the Love Energy Savings Facebook page.
Pupils will then be encouraged to ‘like’ their favourite poster online. Whoever gets the most likes will be crowned the winner.
Schools can sign up by registering their interest at firstname.lastname@example.org by Friday, May 25. Everyone will be sent a competition pack.
The deadline for entries is Friday, June 1 at 5pm, the shortlist will be announced on Friday, June 8, and the winning entry will be revealed on Friday, June 15.
