AN ENERGY firm has launched a summer safety campaign on the hidden dangers of electricity.
SP Energy Networks, which owns powerlines in Cheshire, has is warning families to beware of power dangers and has produced a list of top tips to stay safe.
Alyn Jones SP Energy Networks district general manager, said: “Check for overhead power lines. When you’re fishing, putting up a tent or flying a kite or drone, be careful you don’t hit them.
“Don’t climb poles. As tempting as it might look, they should only be climbed by engineers with the correct safety equipment as even a low voltage can cause serious injury or death.
“Look out for the danger of death sign, it means just that. If you see this on any surface just steer clear.
“Keep the national hotline or SP Energy Networks phone numbers somewhere handy to report a power cut, damage to power lines or anything relating to substations.”
The freephone number is 105. Alternatively call 0800 001 5400.
